Dear Friends and Neighbors,

We are glad to finally present this concert to you next week in partnership with the ‘Under the Steeple’ series at St. John’s UMC.  Unfortunately pandemic issues halted this program last September, but I know you will be moved to experience this wonderful event taking us on an emotional journey together–from grief, loss, and mourning to hope, renewal, and a sense of patriotism and community.  Here is what is in store:

Barber: Adagio for Strings

Maltz:  Gary’s Song

Grieg:  ‘Morning’ from Peer Gynt

Dvorak:  Symphony No. 9 ‘From the New World” in E Minor

The final segment will include singers from several choirs to deliver a patriotic set with America the Beautiful and God Bless America.  Thanks to Dr. Maureen Simpson for her expertise in coordinating these community voices.  They will also sing Let There Be Peace on Earth and your Aiken Civic Orchestra will end the program with Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever.

There is a suggested donation of $20 and there will be announcements about the upcoming season.

Musically yours,

Adam DePriest, Music Director

Aiken Civic Orchestra
