Our History

The Turner family has been proudly serving the families and churches of the CSRA for over 60 years since our doors originally opened as “Turner Music House”.

In 1955 my father, Retired Lt. Cmdr. Edward B. Turner, along with my mother, Wylene Turner, moved from Spartanburg, SC to open a piano store in Augusta. Mother ran the storefront while Dad tuned and delivered pianos. As our family grew, so did the business, and in the mid-1970s we moved to our current location located at 2358 Washington Road. Mother passed away in 1976 and when dad retired in 1984, he sold the family business to me and my three siblings: Ed Turner, Jr., Jefferson C. Turner, Karen Turner Morris. Our father’s work ethic and our mother’s love of music inspired us to continue doing business in a way that has created generations of satisfied customers.

We proudly represent Steinway & Sons, Steinway Boston, Steinway Essex, and Kawai Pianos and Kawai Digital Pianos; widely regarded as the finest pianos and keyboards available in the market today. We like to educate our customers, not sell them, thereby allowing them to feel comfortable they’re making the best decision for their needs, thus becoming a valued musical partner with us.

I’m honored to lead the family business today and continue the legacy of superior customer service established over the past 60 years. I hope you’ll plan on stopping by or calling us soon. You’ll see just what true Southern hospitality and superior service is all about.

I’ll close with what my late father would say to any and all, “Come And See Us!”

Warmest,
Lisa Turner Maddox
