Augusta University is pleased to host Italian Pianist, Leonardo Colafelice, for the upcoming Vola Jacobs Memorial Piano Recital on Tuesday, March 28th at the Maxwell Theatre at Augusta University.

Here is the schedule for the day:

In August 2016, Leonardo Colafelice was awarded Second Prize in the prestigious “Cleveland International Piano Competition” and also received 3 special awards: Audience Prize, Best Performance of a Russian Piece, and The Junior Jury Prize. In January 2020, Leonardo won the 3rd prize, the bronze medal and the audience prize at the Gurwitz International Piano Competition in San Antonio (Texas, USA). He has also been recognized as “Emissary of the Muse” by the Major of San Antonio, Ron Rinemberg.

In May 2019, Leonardo was one of the 6 finalists during the first edition of the “China International Music Competition” in Beijng. Prior to that, Leonardo was awarded with several international prizes: in May 2014 as a young 18- year old, Leonardo Colafelice was one of the six finalists during the “Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition” in Tel Aviv. At the end of the competition, he also received three important special prizes: Best Performer of a Classical Concerto, Best Performer of a Chopin Composition, and finally, Most Outstanding Pianist up to 22 Years of Age.

Vola O’Connor Jacobs was an integral part of the musical fabric of Augusta for most of her life. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, she returned to her hometown of Augusta where she performed often as a soloist and concerto artist and taught many hundreds of piano students, some of whom have become teachers of the next generation of pianists.

This concert is the 2022-2023 Vola Jacobs Memorial Piano Recital, presented in memory of the significant contribution she made to music in Augusta and throughout the Southeastern United States.
