Turners History

Who are the Turner’s?

turners family

The Turner family has been serving families and churches of the CSRA for 54 years!

The Turner’s moved to Augusta, GA in 1955. Originally from the Spartanburg, SC area, Ed and Wylene Turner and their six children opened their first store on Walton Way. This was in the day when there were seven piano stores in Augusta, all located within one mile of each other!

Today, six of those seven piano stores are no longer in business.

Turners Family

As a matter of fact, if Andy Griffith’s Mayberry had a piano store it would be Turner’s Keyboards!

Just as on the farm in South Carolina, Mr. and Mrs. Turner put all their children to work at the piano store. Brenda, Sherrie, Karen, Ed, Jeff and Lisa Turner all wanted to work at the family store since they were in grade school. Today, Ed Turner and sister Lisa bring the same family values to their business, just like their mom and dad did in the 50’s and 60’s!

Turner’s Keyboards is one of the only 60 Steinway piano dealers in the United States! To qualify for this prestigious affiliation, Turner’s Keyboards and their entire staff of Turner’s, rebuilders, artisans, and craftsmen must pass extensive tests from the makers of the world’s finest pianos. We always have a nice selection of rebuilt pianos at Turner’s but the best ones don’t stay on our floor very long.

Little-Hands

Ed and Lisa Turner, along with Tim Arbisi, continue to do business in a way that has generated generations of satisfied customers. As a matter of fact, whether you are from the low country, Thomson, North Augusta, Aiken, Washington, or other cities and towns surrounding Augusta, the Turner’s enjoy giving out listings of satisfied customers from your town in hopes that you will ask them how much they enjoyed doing business with us!

The Turner family is fortunate to be an authorized dealer for the finest piano makers in the world today!

Our Steinway, Boston and Essex pianos continue to earn rave reviews from musicians and teachers alike. You owe it to yourself to play these fine instruments!

Turner’s also represents Kawai, and Story and Clark pianos, as well as providing fine pre-owned pianos and digital pianos that have been traded in or consigned.

Hammond organs are ideal church organs for many of us in the south, and Turner’s is privileged to be connected with the world’s first electronic organ manufacturers!

These days, Turner’s most popular instruments are the new player piano grands and uprights that play discs instead of the old piano rolls of yesteryear. From Bach to the Beatles, from Jazz to classical and country to oldies, there piano will entertain the non-musician’s family for hours with just a click of the remote control. And yes, you can also play these player pianos just like a regular piano too!

One visit to Turner’s will convince you of their old-fashioned, hometown service. Come see Ed, Lisa, Rose, Brian, Lorenzo, Ron, Michael, Samantha and Kendall you’ll experience just what real Southern hospitality is all about!

As Mrs. Turner was fond of saying “The richest child is poor with out music.” Come see us today and play with us! From our family to your family, we look forward to your visit!
